Sharing hosting tips for a tea party birthday

The theme
The theme for this sweet little gathering was inspired by one of the most cherished parts of my day—tea time with my daughter. Every evening, as my husband and I sip on our warm fennel tea or Kashmiri chai, my little one eagerly joins in, requesting her own fennel blend or golden honey milk. What began as my personal moment of calm passed down by my parents has blossomed into a shared tradition full of warmth, giggles, and connection. It’s incredible how something so simple can become a thread that ties our hearts together. This tea party was my way of celebrating that connection, creating a cozy, memory-filled afternoon that mirrored the gentle magic of our evenings together.

Whimsical Details That Made the Party Sparkle:
The setting for our “Tea for Two” celebration was sprinkled with sweet and thoughtful touches that captured the cozy charm of our shared tea time. A chalkboard menu stood at the entrance, hand-lettered with the day's delightful tea selections. Nearby, an inviting appetizer table welcomed little bites like cucumber tea sandwiches and bite-sized samosas, perfect for nibbling between giggles, while the dessert spread was placed in the main seating area that featured a beautifully decorated array of afternoon tea fare (listed below!)

The menu was thoughtfully crafted around my daughter’s favorite tea-time bites, with a few additions tailored to our guests’ preferences. Since her birthday falls in the heart of summer, I made sure to include some refreshing chilled tea options.

No tea party is complete without a take-home treat! I filled paper teacups with instant Kashmiri chai or herbal tea, tea cookies, and a honey stick so guests could recreate a cozy tea moment at home. These sweet little favors doubled as part of the decor and made a charming way to thank everyone for celebrating.
