Use technology to your health advantage with some of my favorite apps right now!

Having the convenience of nutrition and fitness at your fingertips can significantly simplify navigating the world of health. With a growing number of smartphone apps, you can easily make mindful food choices and access exercise options right from the comfort of your home. Below are some apps I regularly use to help achieve my hydration, meal planning, and exercise goals. If any of these catch your eye, feel free to download them and see if they can motivate or inspire you to achieve your personal health goals too!
1. Shop Well
To make grocery shopping and reading food labels easier, consider downloading the ShopWell app. It allows you to create a personalized Food Profile that includes your diet preferences, dietary goals, food allergies, and other health concerns. You can simply scan the barcode of any item at the grocery store, and the app will match the product to your needs. It supports various dietary restrictions, such as gluten-free, low FODMAP, anemia, high cholesterol, diabetes, and several food allergens. You can also make a list of your favorite food finds and share it with others.
2. Pantry Check
The Pantry Check app is a handy tool for managing your home inventory and grocery shopping. It allows you to add and remove items from your pantry, freezer, and refrigerator using a barcode scanner, and it tracks the "best by" dates to reduce food waste with expiration reminders. The app creates smart shopping lists based on your current inventory and usage, offers restock suggestions, and stores your inventory in the cloud for access from multiple devices. You can also organize items by categories and locations, making it easier to keep your kitchen organized. You can track up to 200 items for free!
3. Waterlogged
The Waterlogged app is a fantastic tool for anyone struggling to stay hydrated. This app allows you to set a daily water goal and track your water intake by simply logging the amount you drink. You can visualize your progress with volume measurements in milliliters, liters, or ounces. The app also offers integration with popular health and fitness platforms like FitBit, MyFitnessPal, and Apple Health for seamless tracking. With the Premium version, you can even set personalized alerts to remind you to hydrate throughout the day. Waterlogged makes staying hydrated easy and fun!
4. Yummly
Are you tired of asking yourself "what's for dinner" every day? Thankfully, recipe apps like Yummly can make mealtime easier and hassle-free. You can search for a variety of recipes based on your preferences and dietary needs. For example, the app offers kid-friendly, seasonal, vegetarian, cultural cuisines, and quick and easy recipes. Additionally, the app allows you to snap a photo of an ingredient, such as a cucumber, to discover recipes based on what you have at home. While doing my weekly meal planning on my digital meal planner,, I love to browse Yummly for some recipe ideas or inspiration to make my upcoming week well-nourished.
5. Yoga | Down Dog
Whether you're a beginner or an advanced yogi, the Down Dog app offers personalized instructional video yoga sessions tailored to your needs. You can explore a variety of yoga styles, including gentle, quick flow, chair yoga, full practice, hatha, sun salutation, and more. Additionally, Down Dog provides several boost options for your sessions, such as aerobic, back strength, core, chest/shoulders, breathing, and various stretches.
The app allows you to select different paces, background music, and voice types for instructional videos that range from 8 to 90 minutes. Down Dog delivers a personalized yoga experience right in the comfort of your home, making it convenient and enjoyable to practice yoga anytime.
6. 7-Minute Workout
If fitness isn't part of your daily routine or if you dislike going to the gym regularly, this app might become your best friend. It offers exactly what the name suggests—visual instructional 7-minute workouts covering various topics like weight loss, arms, legs, core, beginner, complete, and more. You can also build your own circuit workout by selecting from the numerous exercise options available. Another great feature is the progress tracking, which helps you stay motivated. With this app, you'll have no excuses when it comes to incorporating physical activity into your weekly routine!
